With year-round sunshine, an endless list of cultural attractions and a reputation as the epicentre of the film and television industry, it’s no wonder Los Angeles often features on people’s travel bucket lists. Scroll down to see some of the best things to do in Los Angeles…
Go on a celebrity homes tour:
See where the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston call home with a private celebrity homes tour through Beverly Hills. We recommend Tour Du Jour, a company that offers bespoke tours tailored to suit your itinerary.
Visit the Getty Center:
Art and architecture enthusiasts will love the Getty Center, which offers stunning views across Los Angeles. Set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2017, the museum has established itself as one of LA’s must-visit museum thanks to its incredible exhibitions and beautiful gardens.
Tour the Dolby Theatre and visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame:
No visit to Los Angeles is complete without a visit to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. If you’re short on time check out the stretch outside the TCL Chinese Theatre (pictured), where you will see the handprints of Hollywood icons including Marilyn Monroe, George Clooney and Shirley Temple.
Further down Hollywood Boulevard you will also discover the Dolby Theatre, which plays host to some of the biggest names in film at the annual Oscars ceremony. During the day the theatre is open for tours offering the chance to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at this incredible Hollywood venue.
Do some window shopping on Rodeo Drive:
Rodeo Drive is one of the most iconic streets in Beverly Hills and is the place to go if you want to splash your cash in designer boutiques including Chanel, Gucci and Saint Laurent. Or if you’re like us, do a spot of window shopping!
While you’re there check out the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the iconic hotel which featured in Julia Roberts’ film Pretty Woman, and pick up a cupcake from the Sprinkles ATM machine, which is just around the corner on South Santa Monica Boulevard.
Eat at a celebrity hotspot:
The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the most iconic hotels in Los Angeles and was a favourite of Hollywood legends Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, who loved it so much she honeymooned there not just once, but six times. Nowadays the hotel is still a much-frequented celebrity hotspot, with many going to eat and hang out at the Polo Lounge restaurant.
Not only is the food delicious, but it is also the perfect place for people-spotting. On our visit we saw Dame Joan Collins, Mary J Blige and Charlie Sheen, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Chris Rock are also known to be among The Polo Lounge’s regulars.
