Fred Siriex and the First Dates team took their matchmaking to a whole new level in the recent series First Dates Hotel, where singles met at a romantic hotel in the south of France. And with the stunning countryside and medieval village of Castillon-du-Gard providing the backdrop for their dates, it’s no wonder so many relationships blossomed.
If you found yourself more than a little envious of the guests staying at the stunning hotel (if not their awkward dates), you’re in luck. We tracked down the 13th century property, named Le Vieux Castillon, on Booking.com – and rooms are available to book from £108 per night.
The hotel has 33 luxurious rooms, a spa and of course, that incredible heated swimming pool with views across the surrounding vineyards. You can also try your hand at a number of activities including tennis, canoeing and cycling. With a golf course, vineyards and more than 1000 walking routes nearby, it’s not short of places to explore during the day – if you can tear yourself away from the hotel’s sun-soaked terraces, that is. This is definitely one we’re adding to our travel bucket list!
WHERE TO BOOK THE FIRST DATES HOTEL:
Le Vieux Castillon is listed on Booking.com, with rooms available for as little as £108 per night at the time of writing – a 39% discount on the standard price of £170 per night for a classic double room.
The hotel is 30km away from Nîmes airport or 70km away from Montpellier airport, both of which you can travel to from London with EasyJet for as little as £40. An airport shuttle is available for a surcharge, or there is free private parking available on site if you’re arriving by car.
